Rumor: Jeep Gladiator V8 coming up later

The Rubicon 392 was the first mass-produced Wrangler to land with a 6.4-liter V8 rated at 481 PS (474 hp / 354 kW), an eight-speed auto gearbox, and a dual-range transfer case. The next logical step would be to retrofit the Gladiator truck with the same powertrain, but will Jeep do it?

According to MotorTrend, this is a distinct possibility. Reports are coming it that the company is discussing the market viability of a V8-powered Gladiator and seems determined to bring it to the showrooms, although it remains unclear when it may happen.

It may be pure conjecture at this point, but it is worth noting that Jeep openly denied the plans to launch a V8-powered Wrangler Rubicon prior to greenlighting it and starting production on short notice.
