Ford Focus goes through a planned update in China

Ford has brought a (very mildly) facelifted Focus to the Guanzhou Auto Expo 2020 in China. The changes are surprisingly minor for a model long suffering from declining sales.

Up front, the standard spec now has a new bumper along with a wider radiator grille. The sported-up ST-Line and the Focus Active SUV/hatch look stay unchanged in terms of looks.

Inside, there is a digital dashboard and a 12.3-inch touch-operated Sync+ infotainment system. The climate control unit is smaller and has fewer buttons than before. The driver’s seat offers six power adjustments.

Everything stays the same under the hood, where the Focus is limited to three cylinders and 1.5 liters of displacement. The naturally aspirated mill (sedan only) produces 122 PS (120 hp / 90 kW), while the turbocharged one churns out 174 PS (172 hp / 128 kW). Stick shift is only available in the cheapest spec, six-speed A/T is optional, and the turbo engine benefits from an eight-speed A/T. The drive stays locked to the front axle.

The production will take place at the Changan-Ford factory, and pre-orders will open soon.
