Honda HR-V gets teased ahead of February 18 premiere

Honda has released a few images showing the third-generation HR-V SUV along with its technical specs and reveal date.

Apparently, the production car will make its debut on February 18, 2021. It will feature highly slanted c-pillars. a curved tailgate, and a rectangular fuel tank lid instead of the round one from before. The rear spoiler is still present, while the shark fin is gone.

All units will ship with a dual-engine e:HEV hybrid system under the hood, just like the Honda Jazz and CR-V. There will be no ICE-only versions.

When it comes out, the HR-V will mark a milestone in the manufacturer’s Electric Vision strategy, which envisions electrification of all models sold in Europe until next year. The company looks forward to IC engine bans pending in Netherlands, Ireland, Great Britain and Germany.

The second-gen HR-V has been around since 2015 and received a facelift in 2019 (see video). The EU spec came with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine rated at 130 PS (128 hp / 96 kW), its turbocharged counterpart good for 182 PS (179 hp / 134 kW), and a 1.6-liter turbo diesel capable of 120 PS (118 hp / 88 kW).
