Meet Alpha Jax, an electric coupe/SUV with vintage looks

Alpha Motor Corporation, a startup based in Irvine, California, USA, has unveiled a two-door battery SUV named the Jax. The car uses the Alpha Ace coupe platform and resembles the Porsche 911 Safari as far as the concept goes.

‘Jax’ is an abbreviation for ‘Junior All-terrain Crossover’, and the tech platform it is based upon – AMP – stands for Automobile Modular Platform. It features a 75-kWh battery and a selection between FWD (single motor) and AWD (dual motors). The standard 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint is estimated at 6.5 seconds, and the driving range should lie in the area of 402 km (250 miles). Max towing weight is reported at 839 kilos (1,850 lbs).

Options will include LED lighting, wheels ranging between 16 and 19 inches across, a digital gauge cluster, a touch-enabled widescreen display, premium audio, and premium seat upholstery. The cabin will accommodate up to four people and up to 1,770 liters (62.5 cubic feet) of cargo. The latter specification likely includes the roof rack.

Like all other Alpha Motor cars – the Ace/Ace Performance Edition and the Icon MPV – the Jax does not exist in the physical world yet, not even as a design study. Despite this, the company is already taking pre-orders in the United States. Prices range from U.S. $38,000 to $48,000. The production is slated to begin in a few years’ time.
