Skoda reveals its Kushaq CUV ahead of premiere

The Skoda Kushaq (Sanskrit for ‘King’ or ‘Emperor’) debuts in India on March 18, 2021, but these pics should give you a good idea of what to expect.

The production car appears nearly identical to the Vision IN Concept from last year, except perhaps for the missing slide-out door handles, a new LED strip between the brake lights, and illumination added to the grille and badges.

The car comes based on the MQB-A0 modular architecture and is under four meters long, which makes it eligible for tax subsidies on its primary market (India). Customers will be able to choose from 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter turbo engines paired up with six-speed manual, six-speed automatic and seven-speed DSG transmissions. The drive will stay on the front axle in all versions.

Anticipated features include LED headlights, rain and light sensors, a touch-enabled multimedia display, hill climb/descend assist, cruise control, a Climatronic HVAC, and six airbags. Side airbags and window curtains may be available separately.

Judging by the ad slogan ‘Made in India for the World’, the Kushaq may later emerge on other markets as well.
