Hyundai's Creta-based Alcazar is a richly equipped 7-seater SUV for India

Hyundai has teased a new seven-seat crossover SUV for India named Alcazar. At the same time, spy photos of the car started surfacing online, providing a good look inside its cabin.

The images show a vehicle obviously based on the second-gen Creta with a widescreen display in the middle of the cockpit. Its diagonal size appears to be 10.25 inches (same as Kia Seltos), which is pretty much class-leading. The dashboard will likely not be fully digital, instead offering analog gauges and a 7-inch display squeezed in between.

The newcomer may come with paid options not available for the Creta, such as a Bose audio system, panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control, ventilated front seats, and a wireless phone charger.

The manufacturer did not directly confirm that the sighted pre-production car was named ‘Alcazar’, but agreed that a seven-seater SUV would soon be coming to the market in India under that name. You may connect the dots yourself.

Powertrain-wise, the car will probably ship with the same range of engines as the Indian-spec Creta. This means a 1.5-liter diesel rated at 115 PS (113 hp / 85 kW) available with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, a 1.5-liter gasoline engine of equal power but restricted to manual gearbox, and a 1.4-liter turbo good for 140 PS (138 hp / 103 kW). The latter option only supports a dual-clutch transmission. All three are strictly FWD models.

The launch date remains to be announced.
