Lynk & Co 09 previews the new Volvo XC90

Lynk & Co and Volvo both belong to the China-based automotive corporation Geely. As such, there’s no surprise that the new Lynk & Co 09 SUV comes based on the Swedish-made SPA platform and is therefore related to the Volvo XC90 (see video).

All other Lynk cars on sale utilize either BMA or CMA for platform, and rumors had been circulating that the new SUV would be built upon a stretched version of the latter. Apparently, this is not the case.
The Lynk & Co 09 has the company’s signature LED lights all around, but its radiator grille is new. At five meters long, it has a three-row cabin for up to seven passengers.

Powertrain-wise, there will be three hybrid options to choose from, based on the same two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. One is a mild-hybrid 48-volt system that uses an eight-speed automatic transmission to drive all four wheels through a sixth-gen Borg Warner coupling.

The second option adds a rear-axle electric motor with 177 PS (175 hp / 130 kW) for extra acceleration. The third one has the same tech, but additionally packs battery that you can charge from a wall socket. Power is available in 252–431 PS (249–425 hp; 185–317 kW) range. The top specification needs 5.6 seconds to get from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph).

Aside from the above, Lynk & Co promises us an entry-level FWD spec with 218 PS (215 hp / 160 kW) and 325 Nm (240 lb-ft) of torque. Finally, there is a non-electrified AWD version that drives the wheels with 254 PS (250 hp / 187 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque through an Aisin 8-speed A/T.

Production will take place at the Geely factory in Meishan, China. Prices are pending.
