Lancia 037 revival replica shows up in Goodwood

Kimera Automobili has teamed up with the creators of the original mid-engined Lancia 037 to design the Evo037, which has now debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Claudio Lombardi, who supervised the engine design department in Lancia in the 1980s, personally made changes to the standard 2.2-liter four-cylinder powering the Groupe B rally car replica to make sure it stays agile on the track.

As a result, the car boasts a 1:2 horsepower-to-weight ratio. The curb weight has not yet been disclosed, but we know that the output amounts to 512 PS (505 hp / 377 kW). Hence, the car should weigh in at around 1,024 kg (2,258 lbs). The development team claims it can reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in around four seconds.

While retaining the technical layout of its original source of inspiration, the newcomer benefits from chassis upgrades, Öhlins suspension components and Brembo brakes. The exterior is still typical Lancia, even though the overhangs are visibly shorter and the lighting all around is LED-based. Interior features include a non-digital dashboard, four-point safety harnesses and a hydraulic handbrake.

The production run will be kept down to just 37 units, out of which 11 have already found owners. Deliveries will start this fall from £414,000 before options.
