Enovate launches the ME5, an electric SUV with 1,000+km of range

After launching its ME7 model (see video), Chinese automaker Enovate has begun accepting pre-orders for a more affordable version called the ME5.

The car has been designed by none other than Hakan Saracoglu, ex-designer of several Porsche cars including the 918 Spyder. It is 4,580 mm long, 1,915 mm wide and 1,635 mm tall with 2,750 mm between the axles. The headlights are slim, and there is a narrow band with the Enovate logo dividing the hood and the fake grille.

Power is supplied by a 204-PS (201-hp / 150-kW) electric motor plugged into a 30.6-kWh traction battery. The battery alone yields only 155 km (96 miles) of NEDC-rated driving range. However, a 1.5-liter gasoline engine acting as a range extender rated at 98 PS (97 hp / 72 kW) produces enough power for 1,012 km (628 miles) of driving, the manufacturer claims.

Customers will be able to choose between two trim specifications priced from 149,900 and 159,900 Yuan, respectively. Deliveries will start on August 27, 2021.

The company has another car marque, Enoreve, at its disposal, but has never used it so far. Unofficial sources claim Enovate might start exporting its cars abroad someday with the Enoreve badge attached.
