Hyundai Custo reveals cabin

We have all seen the exterior shots of the Hyundai Custo, but this is the first time the three-row, seven-seat minivan is shown from the inside, so let’s take a good look.

The multi-function steering wheel, the digital dashboard and the button-based gear selector are the same as in the latest Tucson and Sonata models. The touchscreen measures 10.4 inches across and has an emergency lights button directly underneath. The middle row offers posh captain’s seats, and the seating formula is therefore 2+2+3.

As far as the tech is concerned, the Custo shares the i-GMP/N3 platform with the fourth-gen Tucson and the new Santa Cruz pickup. Parametric Dynamics styling cues can be seen in the design, too. Size-wise, the newcomer more or less matches its main rivals – the Buick GL8 and the Honda Odyssey. It is 4,950 mm (193.3”) long, 1,850 mm (72.2”) wide and 1,734 mm (67.7”) tall with 3,055 mm (119.3”) between the axles. 18-inch wheels come as standard.

The minivan was developed by Beijing Hyundai specifically for China. It comes with a choice between a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder rated at 170 PS (168 hp / 125 kW) and 253 Nm (187 lb-ft) of torque and its larger 2.0-liter counterpart good for 236 PS (233 hp / 174 kW) and 353 Nm (260 lb-ft) of torque. The former links to a seven-range DCT and the latter to an eight-speed A/T. Both drive the front axle with no other options.

The Hyundai Custo will debut at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 27, 2021.
