3rd-gen Honda HR-V presents detailed specs

The third-generation Honda HR-V will be available exclusively as a hybrid car in Europe and take advantage of a fuel-efficient powertrain called the e:HEV.

The carmaker claims that the system incorporates technical solutions found in Formula One racecars. The newer Jazz and CR-V models already ship with it installed, but the HR-V benefits from a larger traction battery compared to the Jazz.

A 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 106 PS (105 hp / 78 kW) and acts solely as a range extender and power generator for the dual electric motors. The electric motors make 131 PS (129 hp / 76 kW) and 253 Nm (187 lb-ft) of torque in total, taking the SUV from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 10.6 seconds. WLTP-rated mixed-cycle fuel consumption amounts to 5.4 liters per 100 kilometers, or 43.5 MPG for our U.S. readers. It also produces 122 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

Drivers can choose from four available regenerative braking modes and three drive modes, and Honda claims that switching between them is seamless.

The new HR-V was announced nearly half a year ago along with its Japan-only twin, the Honda Vezel. Sales will begin later into 2021.
