New Changan EVs go after Tesla’s success

Chinese automaker Changan has unveiled a new all-electric production car provisionally known as the C385, along with teasing a new SUV named the E11.

Starting with the C385, it incorporates the latest design philosophy of the Chinese marque in its faux front grille, a rather intricately designed bumper, slim cluster headlights, an original spoiler, and aerodynamic wheels. The interior and the powertrain remain to be revealed later. By all indications, the car utilizes a dedicated EV platform and comes with a state-of-the-art self-driving system on board.

As for the E11, it might be based on the same tech as the C385, but all details remain to be announced. What we do know is that the company plans to launch both later this year and thus create considerable competition for the Tesla Model 3 and Model X.

Changan’s previous premiere was the Uni-V, the first sedan on the Uni lineup (all other models are crossover SUVs). The Uni-V features an aggressive exterior and comes powered by a gasoline turbo engine.
