Xpeng announces a dual-rotor flying car

Chinese electric car maker Xpeng has revealed a few sketches of a flying car without providing any technical details. HT Aero, the subsidiary responsible for the project, claims it plans to begin mass production in 2024.

Unlike most other flying car projects of today, this one lacks wings, using two large rotors on extendable pylons to balance itself instead. In theory, it should be able to fly at lower elevations like a convertiplane or a quadcopter.

HT Aero hopes to make the vehicle light enough to enable vertical takeoff, and says it will develop a multi-level safety system for it. All details remain unknown, however.

The HT Aero portfolio already contains multiple VTOL projects, but this one is unique thanks to its (claimed) ability to travel on the road and in the air with equal ease.
