Meet Project Maybach, a luxury off-road coupe concept

The Project Maybach is much more than your average electric design study. Envisioned by the recently deceased designer Virgil Abloh and Daimler AG Chief Designer Gorden Wagener, it is a stunning Safari off-roader with meaty tires, a roof rack and other active leisure equipment.

Although Alboh worked with Wagener on this one, both had complete freedom of expression. The Project Maybach culminated in a stylish two-door car with a very long transparent hood concealing solar panels underneath. Opening a door reveals an axe, and there is a handy drawer right next to the dashboard. The seats are fully collapsible, so you can fold them down and turn the cabin into a comfortable sleeping area.

Despite its striking looks, the Project Maybach is a rather simple concept. Then again, simple does not equal primitive or boring. A dual-tone brown and black paint scheme caters for the much needed contrast, and a robust silver skid plate at the front is as stylish as it is practical.
