1,115-PS Delage hypercar will debut tomorrow at the Miami Grand Prix

It has been a few years since the resurrected French carmaker Delage announced its first production vehicle, a hypercar named D12. The engineering crew spent all this time improving the internals of the prototype, and it is finally ready to debut at the F1 Miami Grand Prix on Sunday.

The company pointed out that the prototype would then embark on a tour around the United States. Only 30 units will be produced in total, including just 10 units for the USA. A few dealerships have already agreed to handle the sales.

According to the updated information, the vehicles will ship with a hybrid powertrain comprising a 7.6-liter naturally aspirated V12 and an electric motor. The former will provide the most thrust with 1,004 PS (990 hp / 738 kW), while the latter will assist with 112 PS (110 hp / 82 kW) of its own. An eight-speed automatic transmission will carry the momentum to the wheels.

A simplified version named Club will also be available for those who do not need a powerful electric add-on. This version will make do with a small 20-PS (20-hp / 15-kW) electric motor weighing 90 kilograms (200 pounds) less than its performance counterpart. The main downside is that the motor will only engage when parking or reversing, not during most of the normal driving.

In addition to the exotic looks, the Delage D12 features an equally exotic cabin layout with two seats located one behind the other and a glass dome that can be raised to let you in.

Prices start from $2.3 million USD, and the deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second half of the year.

Delage was a French sports car maker founded in the distant year 1905. It left the market in 1954 and has now been brought back from oblivion. Its current owner believes the D12 has everything necessary to set an absolute Nürburgring record. Preliminary calculations have shown that the coupe launches itself from standstill to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 6.5 seconds.
