AMG GT E Performance Coupe hits the test track

The most powerful car of the second-generation Mercedes-AMG GT family is already undergoing pre-production tests, as these spy photos clearly indicate.

Note the charging port hatch concealed just below the taillight: the car is a hybrid. It is official that the next-gen AMG GT comes based on the SL chassis (see video). It looks like the convertible will also be getting a part-electric modification soon, judging by recent spy shots. By the way, the latest SL test vehicle spied had round tailpipes, while the AMG GT E has trapezoid finishers.

The car is expected to surpass even the 730bhp Black Series in terms of performance. Rumor has it that the flagship spec will churn out 843 PS (831 hp / 620 kW) and 1,470 Nm (1,084 lb-ft) of torque, like the AMG GT 63 S E Performance does.
