Official: Alpine A110 R does its 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.9 seconds

Alpine will reveal the sported-up A110 R any day now, landing it with the 1.8-liter turbo engine of the S version. An earlier teaser vid said the power would stay the same, however, it now turns out the car will still be faster.

According to Alpine, the A110 R has a top speed of 285 km/h (177 mph), which is higher than the regular A110 and its S variant can do. Not only that, but it can reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.9 seconds, down from the 4.2 seconds of the S version. This puts the upcoming sports car precariously close to the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS in terms of raw acceleration potential.

In addition to that, the manufacturer promises to make the R lighter than the standard coupe, which is already considered to be among the lightest sports cars out there. Depending on your chosen trim options, it will weigh between 1,102 and 1,140 kilograms (2,430 – 2,513 pounds).
