Check out an early mock-up of the iconic Cizeta V16T

Co-designed between Lamborghini engineer Claudio Zampolli and composer Giorgio Moroder, the Cizeta V16T was a supercar that graced the world in a production run limited to just nine units (see video). This wasn’t one of them: it is an engine-free mock-up built to demonstrate Marcello Gandini’s bodywork to the masses.

The life-sized prototype is made from wood and composite materials. It runs on OZ wheels, but lacks any steering or braking components. The cabin is also not detailed at all, with simple polystyrene mock-ups of the dashboard and the seats wrapped in fabric.

The seller claims Zampolli kept the prototype at his house until he sold it on to its current owner. Since no one cared to make t last through the years, it has decayed and is currently in a lamentable condition with cracked and peeling paint and an interior deserving a complete makeover.

The company was originally called Cizeta-Moroder, but the composer left the project after the first production car was launched. This means this design study could be one of only two vehicles in existence with the name ‘Moroder’ on its body. The other one was a V16T model with the chassis number 001 that Moroder himself owned and drove. That car went under the hammer last fall for $1,363,500.
