Meet the Polydrops P19 Shorty, a trailer said to extend your Ioniq 5 range

Trailer specialist Polydrops has introduced its latest trailer model designed specifically for electric cars. Dubbed the P19 Shorty, it is said to improve the EPA-rated driving range of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 solely thanks to its optimized aero design.
The trailer is based off the manufacturer’s other model, the P17A1, but features a simpler, cheaper-to-produce construction. As a result, it is affordable at just $10,000 and allegedly also useful for getting more range out of your EV.
The company claims that the magic happens without any extra batteries or power sources. In the test shown in the attached video, Polydrops made a 46-kilometer (29-mile) trip at an average speed of 88 km/h (55 mph) and concluded that the average efficiency was 5.8 kilometers per kilowatt-hour. In terms of absolute range, the car was roughly rated at 445 km (276 miles) with the trailer on – more than its official EPA rating.
Do you think this is actually possible with aero improvements alone? Wouldn’t the added weight and bulk negate any advantage gained? Polydrops seems to be confident in its advertising statements, so please share your thoughts in the comments below.
