Hyperion offers an XP-1 prototype to the highest bidder

One out of seven pre-production units of the XP-1 hypercar created by U.S. startup firm Hyperion will cross the auction block in several days. Unlike the final version of the car, it lacks a hydrogen powertrain rated at 2,038 PS (2,010 hp / 1,500 kW).

According to the listing, the company used this specific prototype to finalize the exterior design. Although it misses out on hydrogen propulsion, the car is still drivable thanks to an electric powertrain with unspecified parameters. The seller suggests that it could be used as a show exhibit.

The exterior is finished in Matte Titanium with blue, black and yellow accents all around. How much of the cabin is functional is unknown.

Interestingly enough, Hyperion says whoever buys the prototype will enjoy “special benefits” when the XP-1 finally goes on sale. Apparently, they will have two options: trade in their prototype for a finished hypercar or keep it and get certain unspecified “benefits” with their XP-1 purchase. The details are unknown.
