Hongqi EH7 turns into a convertible

Premium automaker Hongqi has brought a new version of its EH7 model to the auto show in Beijing. The sedan became a four-seat, all-wheel-drive convertible with real production prospects.

The car is sized 4,980 x 1,915 x 1,490 mm large with three meters of wheelbase, just like the donor. The overall design looks the same, too, including the interior with its 15.5-inch infotainment system running on a Snapdragon 8155 chipset. There’s also a heads-up display on board, but barely any physical buttons. Unlike the sedan, the convertible has two individual seats in the back row instead of a bench for three.

It seems likely that the powertrains will be borrowed from the fixed-top version, too. The Hongqi EH7 is set to ship in two versions: single-motor/RWD with 344 PS (339 hp / 253 kW) at its disposal and dual-motor/AWD with extra 275 PS (271 hp / 202 kW) at the front end. The flagship convertible may be able to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds.

The availability dates and pricing are pending.
