Honda Civic gets a facelift in the USA

The 11th-generation Honda Civic has received its first refresh after three years on the U.S. market. After posting a single interior photo of the sedan, Honda has now revealed more images and some technical specifications. The new Civic sedan will be made in Canada and ship in June, while its U.S.-produced hatchback counterpart will follow later.

On the exterior side of things, the radiator grille, the front bumper and the taillights all look new. Buyers can choose from four new body colors as well – Solar Silver Metallic, Urban Gray Pearl, Blue Lagoon Pearl, and Sand Dune Pearl. The company calls the new design “more aggressive”, but we’ll leave the conclusion up to you. In any case, the rest of the exterior stays unchanged unless you opt for a new flagship trim riding on new wheels.

The interior hasn’t changed much, either. There is still a 9-inch central display, an infotainment system with built-in Google Services and wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity, and USB-C ports for those in the front row.

Powertrain-wise, the old 1.5-liter turbo engine rated at 183 PS (180 hp / 135 kW) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque is no longer available. The 2.0-liter naturally aspirated mill with 160 PS (158 hp / 118 kW) is still available, and there is a new hybrid option if you would like more power and torque. It churns out 203 PS (200 hp / 149 kW) and 315 Nm (232 lb-ft) of torque. The Civic e:HEV that went on sale in Europe a few years ago was already making use of an earlier version of this powertrain, but it didn’t deliver more than 184 PS (181 hp / 136 kW) back then.

According to Honda, CVT is your only transmission option at the time. Manual isn’t on the menu, not even for the sportier 2025 Civic Si model that’s already in development.

Honda calls the new Civic lineup the most powerful in history (Type R excluded) and hopes that hybrids will account for at least 40% of the sales. The new part-electric system is said to be well-optimized and faster on the uptake than the old 1.5L turbo version, but there are still no official sprint times, so we’ll have to wait until they appear.
