It’s Official: VW ID.7 won’t reach North America

Volkswagen had high hopes for the all-electric ID.7, designing the large liftback as a truly international product fit for selling on most major markets worldwide. Well, it is now official that the United States and Canada won’t be getting it anytime soon.

The company has postponed bringing the ID.7 to the North American region for an indefinite time. It blamed the “changing dynamic” of the local electric vehicle market (likely referring to the ongoing slowdown) and emphasized that it needed “a balanced approach” based on the customers’ current priorities.

On an interesting side note, Volkswagen still managed to ramp up sales in the States and Canada by 27.5% in Q1 2024. That said, most of the surplus sales were in the ever-popular SUV segment.
