A car enthusiast named Carlos decided to participate in the SEMA show this year with a heavily modded 1990 Nissan 300ZX. As he admits in his latest video, the whole project probably cost him north of $100,000.
At the core of the build is the legendary 2JZ turbo-six engine powering the 15-year-old Toyota Supra generation. Carlos also sourced the drive shaft and transmission from the Supra, but hasn’t revealed any specifics so far.
On the outside, the first thing that catches the eye (literally if you are not careful) is a humongous APR GT1000 rear wing made of carbon fiber. It looks especially massive on a car as compact as the ZX300, which rides lower than stock.
Other highlights include a unique exterior paint designed by Carlos himself and a set of SSR SP1 wheels.
As far as the pricing is concerned, the powertrain alone cost around $45,000. The used Nissan came in cheaper than that, but the air-ride suspension set the tuner back $10,000. Another $6,000 went into the wheels, and while the rear wing came in at $4,000, an extra $1,500 went into making sure it stayed in place.
