Two new Nissan GT-R editions sold out ahead of price reveal

Buyers in Japan now finally know how much the GT-R NISMO and NISMO Special Edition cost, but all 300 cars have been pre-sold since April.

Apparently, the regular NISMO will begin at ¥24.2 million, while the Special Edition will start from ¥24.64 million. Nissan admits that 99 percent of the buyers went for the more exclusive second option, however, and that around a half of them picked the iconic dark grey livery.

The company promises unique engine components that will improve acceleration, but the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 continues to pump out its usual 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) and 652 Nm (481 lb-ft).

Elsewhere, the new specification includes upsized Brembo calipers and the largest carbon-ceramic brake rotors ever installed on a Japanese sports car: 410 mm at the front and 390 mm at the rear.

The Special Edition sports a naked carbon hood that weighs 100 grams less than a painted one would, and 20-inch forged wheels with red lining.

While Nissan makes no mention of sending the R35 GT-R to its retirement with these two editions, most Japanese car magazines state for a fact that the production ends there.
