This Nismo-rebuilt Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 has zero on the odometer

An ‘as-new’ Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) produced 23 years ago attracted a top bid in excess of $660,000 in Hong Kong earlier this week. With all the taxes included, the figure could climb to $1.5 million, CarBuzz reports.

The car was nowhere near new when its owner handed it over to Nismo for a Clubman Race Spec (CRS) treatment. The aftermarket division essentially built a new RB26DETT engine for it from scratch with custom intake, injection, headers and ECU. The engine works alone reportedly cost the owner $40,000. In the end, the mill began pumping out a healthy 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW) to its usual five-speed manual transmission, which also received an overhaul.

The full CRS program also includes a body kit, upgraded suspension based on Öhlins suspension, and Brembo brakes. The seller didn’t mention whether any of these options were actually purchased.

CarBuzz points out that there is an enormous tax in Hong Kong for buying new cars past a certain price point: 115% from the selling price. If applicable here, it would mean the car just cost its buyer around a million and a half, the highest any GT-R R34 ever sold.

The seller, Contempo Concept, reports that Nismo is currently working on three more ‘as-new’ GT-R cars within the framework of its CRS program.
