Next-gen Nissan Navara lands Down Under as a rebadged Mitsubishi

Nissan bills the next generation of its Navara pickup for Australia and New Zealand as “all new”, but rub the surface and you’ll discover a mildly retouched Mitsubishi L200/Triton. Sales start in Q1 2026, so let’s take a look.

The truck is basically a Triton with a new front fascia. The grille is V-shaped as befits a Nissan and sports a fresh pattern, the bumper is new and the lighting elements are in line with the company’s other recent frame-based vehicles.

The chassis and suspension are designed by the local shop Premcar and tested in the Southern Continent’s wilderness, or so the company claims. Those who want still more off-road capabilities may opt for the traditional Warrior spec, which is shown in the gallery above alongside the main version. That one gets heavy-duty suspension parts, custom 17-inch wheels shod in 32.2-inch tires, a bull bar, skid plates and brush guards, as well as some extra lighting. It also looks bolder than the standard version thanks to added accents.

Customers in Australia will be getting the badge-engineered Navara with a 2.4-liter turbo diesel engine rated at 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. It’s the only engine available, and it comes bundled with a six-speed automatic transmission. The base spec gets you Easy 4WD with a coupling and a rear diff lock, while the top spec comes with a more advanced Super 4WD system, a Torsen differential and seven drive modes to switch among. A seven-inch digital dash screen and a nine-inch infotainment display are included as standard.
