Hercules pledges to electrify Nissan Titan, accepts preorders

The popularity of all-electric trucks grows with each passing day, and Nissan isn’t going to miss out on the sales. Latest rumors suggest it plans on buying electric powertrains from Detroit startup Hercules Electric Vehicles in exchange for Titan pickup parts.

There is no official agreement between the two companies as of right now, but Hercules has already launched pre-orders for its first vehicle called the Hercules Alpha. The first images of the car are actually those of the Titan, with Hercules badges photoshopped on.

The Alpha will boast an all-electric powertrain and a revised design. Its quad motors will output 1,014 PS (1,000 hp / 750 kW, enabling the bulky ride to reach 60 miles per hour (97 km/h) in four seconds flat before maxing out at 120 miles per hour (193 km/h). A single charge will suffice for 300 miles (483 km) of uninterrupted driving, and the truck will be able to carry 2,500 lbs (1,134 kg) and tow up to 12,500 lbs (5,670 lbs). Advanced features will include per-wheel torque vectoring and the capability to turn while standing in the same spot.
