New generation confirmed for Nissan’s affordable Sunny sedan

Nissan Sunny, alternatively known as Versa or Almera, is finally getting a major update after eight years of production.

Billed by the company itself as a new generation, it honestly looks more like a facelift. In particular, almost all body panels stay the same with only minor elements like the lighting units, the bumpers and the trim panels getting updated. Radiator grille is arguably the biggest highlight, as it looks nothing like the company’s previous designs. The DRLs stretched onto the sides are also new.

It remains to be seen what the new Sunny looks like from the inside. In the United States and Latin American region, rumors claim it will continue to be available with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 124 PS (122 hp / 91 kW). Southeastern Asia will reportedly get its usual 1.0-liter three-cylinder version boosted to 100 PS (99 hp / 74 kW).

The launch dates and further details are pending. Watch the video for a glimpse of the current version.
