Nissan X-Trail Nismo lands in Japan

The Nissan X-Trail has finally got its first Nismo edition, complete with steering tweaks, suspension upgrades and AWD, but no engine tune. Sales in Japan start on September 24, 2025.

According to the automaker, this is the first time it uses Kayaba Swing Valve shock absorbers in a car. These new shocks should help reduce rolling while keeping the overall comfort on par with what X-Trail owners are used to. 20-inch Enkei wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires weigh less than stock despite being wider and are said to reduce drag compared to the standard wheel set.

For a sportier driving feel, the e-Force AWD system has been overhauled to direct more torque to the rear end. The steering was fine-tuned with the new shocks in mind. Like other Nismo vehicles, this X-Trail has selectable Sport Mode.

The exterior with its mandatory red accents is more or less typical for the brand. Nissan claims the aero components reduce the lifting force by 29% compared to the original.

The interior boasts the same black-and-red color scheme and can be optioned with Recaro seats featuring heating, power adjustments and enhanced lateral support.
