After what seemed like a multi-year hiatus, tuner Richard Tuthill came out with his latest project – a Porsche 911K that weighs under a metric ton and revs up to a crazy 11,000 RPM.
Tuthill, who you may know for his rally Porsche builds, says his intention was to produce a vehicle that would feel as close as possible to a motorcycle. After replacing most of the bodywork and aero kit with carbon-fiber panels, he managed to drop the weight down to just 850 kilograms (1,873 pounds) – and that’s with the liquids already in.
For the engine, he worked with a standard 3.1-liter flat-six unit that he outfitted with a carbon plenum to lift the redline to 11,000 RPM. He put magnesium-alloy components into the six-speed manual transmission and added a titanium roll cage along with carbon-ceramic brakes for safety. The suspension received adjustable shocks.
In the video, the extreme ride hits the road and a racetrack sounding like something out of this world. Tuthill never mentions any pricing details, but various sources speculate that the expenses could exceed $1,000,000.
