A Strosek Mega Speedster built by Vittorio Strosek’s workshop in an exclusive batch of 15 units (see video) will cross the auction block in January, expected to fetch $300,000–350,000. The car has roughly 9,500 km (5,900 miles) on it since 1994.
Strosek has casually put the name ‘Mega’ on its projects, and this one is no exception. The donor car here is a Speedster version of the standard Porsche 911 Carrera 2 (964). Back in its time, the Speedster enjoyed a production run of 936 units, out of which 427 were exported into the United States.
Strosek designed an original exterior for the car with flared fenders and an unusual front end – note especially the comically tiny headlights. Other modifications included various suspension tweaks, 17-inch OZ Racing wheels and an overhauled interior – although the Recaro seats were allowed to remain stock.
Power for the Mega Speedster came from a 3.6-liter flat engine rated at 360 PS (355 hp / 265 kW). Coupled with a five-speed manual transmission, it took the car from zero to 96.6 km/h (60 miles per hour) in approximately six seconds.
