Porsche Carrera GT recalled over suspension issue

Porsche has announced a recall campaign encompassing 489 rare Carrera GT coupes in the USA – around a third of their total production quantity. Corroding wishbones may make the car uncontrollable.

Per Carscoops, the automaker found that the wishbones it used did not meet all the quality criteria and could be vulnerable to a prolonged exposure to salt and anti-icing reagents used on roads. When corroded, they start developing cracks and produce strong vibrations during driving. Eventually, when the issue is not addressed, the driver can lose control over the car.

The first connected incident occurred as far back as 2019, but an internal investigation failed to come up with any findings. After another, more thorough study, Porsche was finally able to pinpoint the culprit.
