Porsche Macan EV gets a halfway-hot GTS version

Porsche has warmed up its electric Macan lineup by introducing the fifth version so far. Called GTS, it will slot in between the 4S and the range-topping Turbo, yielding only 68 PS (67 hp / 50 kW) to the latter. Availability dates and prices are to be announced.

The battery SUV relies on two electric motors for propulsion, the rear one sourced from the Turbo version along with the reduction gear. They output a combined 571 PS (563 hp / 420 kW) and 955 Nm (704 lb-ft) of torque, letting the Macan GTS reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill in 3.8 seconds. That’s half a second behind the Turbo version, but 0.3 seconds faster than the 4S.

Hitting 200 km/h (124 mph) is a matter of 13.3 seconds, and the top speed is artificially limited at 250 km/h (155 mph). A 100-kWh battery pack is good for 586 km (364 miles) on a charge and takes 21 minutes to top up from 10 to 80%.

Porsche points out recalibrated air-ride suspension, including new and sportier presets for the shocks and the sway bar, and a 10mm (0.4”) reduction in ground clearance. Torque control is now listed as standard equipment, but you’ll still have to pay a premium for rear-wheel steering.

On the outside, the GTS version sets itself apart from the rest of the lineup with its own bumpers and black décor. The interior gets a premium trim and a unique digital dash UI. Last but not least, drivers can choose from a wider list of options to imitate the sound of a traditional engine.
