Racing-ready Red Bull RB17 breaks cover

Although the latest hypercar from Red Bull Racing is no F1 racer, it is nonetheless not street-legal, either.

You may have seen an early concept of the RB17 in mid-2024. Compared to that car, the production-ready example seen here is much more detailed with LED headlights, a plethora of air intakes and vents, and a fin-shaped splitter above the engine department. The overall body outlines have changed considerably after wind tunnel tests, and the side mirrors have shrunk to the smallest possible size.

Powering the ride is a 4.5-liter, Cosworth-built V10 capable of revving up to an insane 15,000 RPM. It churns out 1,000 PS (986 hp / 735 kW) and sounds like in the video above. An assisting e-motor throws in an extra 200 PS (198 hp / 148 kW) of its own and handles reverse driving, since the sequential six-speed gearbox on board only has forward gears.

According to Red Bull Racing, the interior is “as analog as it gets”, ditching newfangled touchscreens in favor of raw haptic feedback. The first deliveries are penciled in for the spring of 2027.
