The Renault Kardian is expected to debut on October 25 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as a relatively affordable crossover SUV for the South American countries.
The photos revealed so far show the front end of the car, its profile view and the illuminated new Renault logo, marking the first time the French automotive giant puts its new badge on a non-European vehicle. A closer look reveals new headlights, roof rails, a distinct hood cover, large air intakes in the front bumper, and a rear spoiler.
Any technical specifications will have to wait until the premiere. Motor1 ventures the guess that the model will be very loosely based on the latest Dacia Sandero Stepway – with a redesigned exterior, slightly more ride height and rugged body trims. The same model may provide the engines (minus the hybrids - they aren't popular in South America). In Europe, the Sandero lineup makes do with low-end engines rated up to 95 PS (94 hp / 70 kW).
