Rolls-Royce’s next EV spied testing

Someone has nabbed down Rolls-Royce’s second electric vehicle riding the public roads of Germany. It had what looked like a rather unique two-part hood design not used in the automotive industry since the first half of the 20th century.

If you take a closer look, you’ll see that the hood cover has a line running down its middle in a longitudinal fashion. In all likelihood, this means that the hood cover consists of two hinged halves that rise to the sides to reveal the contents. Since Carscoops is positive that this is an EV and not an ICE car, there’s probably a front trunk (“frunk”) down there.

Other than that, the vehicle strongly resembles the Rolls-Royce Cullinan but is visibly smaller in every dimension. It also flaunts its own distinct headlights and has what appears to be an aerodynamic cowl around the rear window.

Right now, the only all-electric Rolls on the market is the Spectre coupe (see video). That one utilizes a multi-motor setup to propel itself with a combined 580 PS (572 hp / 427 kW). It also gets more than 500 km (310 miles) on a full charge. We wouldn’t be surprised to see the same or similar powertrain in this new, unnamed SUV.

Once it reaches the showrooms, the new Rolls-Royce EV will find itself in the same market niche as the likewise upcoming Bentley Bernato.
