Mitsuoka Buddy 2021 & 2022 swept off the floors via pre-orders

When Japanese tuner Mitsuoka premiered its Buddy SUV, a charming mixture between a Toyota RAV4 and an old Chevy Blazer, it could hardly expect customers to prepay two years’ worth of production.

The way things stand now – mere days after the announcement – you can only expect delivery in the year 2023 if you place your order right now. The company promised to build 50 units in 2021 and 150 more in 2022, but both batches sold out like hot cakes. Prices for 2023MY Mitsuoka Buddy start from 4,697,000 Japanese Yen.

The car comes powered by a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine rated at 171 PS (169 hp / 126 kW), but you can opt for either of the two available hybrids (around 220 PS / 217 hp / 162 kW).

Options include panoramic sunroof, multimedia systems with 8” and 9” displays, cruise control, and a range of electronic assists.
