Video: See how a team of students turn a Skoda Enyaq into a camper

Skoda has shown how its Enyaq EV SUV can be remade into a home away from home. The project was carried out by a team of 29 students of the Skoda Academy and was dubbed ‘Roadiaq’.

The students’ ninth concept car so far combines a campervan with a mobile office. Compared to the standard SUV (see video), the new version adds a raised roof to accommodate more equipment in the limited space. It is implemented though a frame installed over the tailgate and adds around 35 cm (14 inches) of height.

The fifth door itself has been redesigned – not just because of the new roof, but also because the students wanted to fit a kitchenette in the trunk and build an extendable awning into the door.

The designers behind the project say that permanent Internet access is included as well, enabling the residents to work from any location no matter how remote. Solar panels on the roof provide some extra power in a pinch, and the interior is going to be trimmed with eco-friendly materials when the rest of the work is done.

The Roadiaq will enjoy a full-blown show debut later this month.
