Skoda Auto University students unveil a Kodiaq-based pickup truck
Skoda has officially presented the sixth prototype vehicle conceptualized and built by the students of its vocational academy. Based on the Kodiaq SUV chassis, the conversion is a pickup truck called ‘Mountiaq’.
It took 8 months for a group of 35 students to finish the project. They sawed off the roof of the SUV, added the necessary body reinforcements, shortened the doors, and created a truck bed with a false bottom concealing another storage area.
The newcomer boasts an additional 100 millimeters (almost 4 inches) of ground clearance compared to the regular Kodiaq. As such, its ride height amounts to an impressive 290 mm (11.3 inches). The wheelbase is 30 mm (1.2 inches) broader owing to new 17-inch wheels. The engine bay houses a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine rated at 190 hp (142 kW).
Notable features of the one-off creation include a roof-mounted light bar, a snorkel, a winch, a bull bar, engine bay lighting, and truck bed lighting.
The cabin of the Skoda Mountiaq greets with bucket seats, ceiling with point LEDs, and a 2,000W sound system.
