Subaru moves Forester production to the USA

For the first time in history, the Subaru Forester for the United States market will be made locally, rather than imported from Japan like it is now.

Subaru plans to launch the production at its Indiana industrial complex in a few years. It will be assembling both gas-powered and part-electric Forester models (the latter has been confirmed, but not properly introduced yet).

Right now, the Indiana factory churns out the Subaru Crosstrek, Legacy, Outback and Ascent for the local market. The Legacy sedan is scheduled to drop out of production in 2025 leaving no successor. In all likelihood, the production capacities thus freed will be reallocated to the Forester.
