UK-based tuning company Twisted has worked its magic on a Suzuki Jimny, retrimming the cabin, upgrading the suspension and boosting the engine. You can order an SUV like this starting from £49,500 (U.S. $62,000), more than double the original MSRP.
In Great Britain, the Jimny is sold exclusively as a commercial vehicle with an ascetic cabin and no rear seat row. Twisted adds comfort to the cabin by putting quilted leather on the seats and door panels and Alcantara on the ceiling. There are even leather bits on the dashboard.
Those who would rather remove the partition between the driver’s cabin and the rest of the car may do so, and the same goes for adding a bench seat in the back. The stock multimedia system can be replaced with a much better-sounding one and noise proofing can be improved all around.
The suspension benefits from new shock absorbers and a rear sway bar, with an option to add 25 mm (1 inch) of ground clearance. New 16-inch wheels are shod in BFGoodrich rubber.
Aside from the wheels, the tuned Jimny stands out from its stock counterpart thanks to a different bumper, tinted headlights and a body-matched front grille. An expedition rack, a trailer hook and skid plates are optional.
The 1.5-liter non-turbo engine under the hood gets a turbocharger and outputs 167 PS (165 hp / 123 kW), a sizable improvement over the standard 105 PS (104 hp / 77 kW).
Twisted says it plans to sell ready-made Jimny conversions that it will begin building in October. However, those desiring more in-depth customization may submit their own car for the makeover.
