Suzuki South Africa has shared a video from this year’s Jimny Gathering. As many as 796 Jimny SUV owners switched on their headlights at once, setting an official Guinness Book record.
The gathering took place in a hillside area near Clarence, which is famous for its picturesque natural environments. The gathering was attended by owners of all Jimny generations, with most of the off-roaders sporting at least some optional overlanding gear and aftermarket mods.
According to the Guinness Book committee, setting a world record for the simultaneous turning on of headlights requires drivers to keep them on for at least five seconds straight. It is unclear how the people at the meetup were able to synchronize with each other, because the host’s loudspeaker was hardly loud enough to be audible from every point. That said, the committee was still able to pinpoint 796 cars with headlights on, which has been recognized as a new world record.
