Rare Tatra 613 goes on sale

A limited-edition 1993 Tatra 613-4 Electronic is up for grabs in Prague, Czech Republic right now for an asking price of 2.5 million Krona, or nearly $110,000. You could buy a new BMW X6 in Europe for the same money, but that’s arguably beside the point.

The 613-4 Electronic Edition was the final Tatra 613 model produced and likely the most opulent one as well. It was based on the long-wheelbase modification of the original car, which was only available for the top brass of Czechoslovakia government and the richest residents of the country at the time. Aside from offering plenty of rear-seat legroom, it had a luxurious interior trimmed with leather and natural wood. This particular example seems to be an exception with its velour seats, though.

The Electronic Edition was the manufacturer’s way to showcase its technological advancements. The route computer was equipped with a self-diagnosis feature so that it could report any malfunctions using signal lights and even voice recordings. A woman’s voice warned drivers about any possible concerns with the car, such as low gas level or unbuckled seat belts.

The basic trim included air conditioning and seat heating, while a CRT TV with a video tape player and a phone were available as paid options.

A 3.5-liter V8 installed over the rear axle was air-cooled, had electronic injection and churned out 200 horsepower (150 kilowatts), letting the car reach 190 km/h (118 mph) on highways. Only 17 vehicles like this were made.

The seller claims that, despite having 231,200 kilometers (143,661 miles) under its belt, the car is still drivable.
