Tuners bring the Tesla Model 3 crashed at Pikes Peak back to life

A Tesla Model 3 driven by Randy Pobst crashed hard while racing at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb track in 2020 (watch the videos for details). Pobst escaped with his health intact, but the tuned EV fell into obscurity. As it now turns out, it was never deemed a write-off: Unplugged Performance brought it back better than ever.

The tuning company calls the resurrected battery sedan ‘Bionic Phoenix’. It sports one of the most aggressive-looking carbon-fiber body kits out there, complete with an overlong front splitter allegedly producing up to 2 metric tons (4,500 pounds) of downforce at extreme speeds.

The team that worked on the car never mentioned its weight, but assured us that it did everything in its power to keep it light. This included installing polycarbonate windows, cleaning out the interior, replacing the standard wheels with UP-03 forged rims, and putting the driver’s seat squarely in the middle, McLaren F1-style.

How’s this for a comeback, huh?
