Longest-range Tesla Model 3 registered in China

Tesla’s latest Model 3 sedan for China is soon due a new version called “3+”, which the documents indicate could offer the best range on the lineup.

According to CnEVPost quoting the relevant certification entry, the EV will ship with a single motor rated at 306 PS (302 hp / 225 kW). That’s a significant improvement over the current Model 3 for China, which can output 264 PS (260 hp / 194 kW) at best.

Perhaps more importantly, the entry mentions a nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) battery pack supplied by LG. Most affordable EVs make do with simpler, cheaper lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries that tend to have lower energy density than their NCM counterparts.

In fact, Tesla is already offering a dual-motor Model 3 Performance in China with the NCM battery pack mentioned above. Despite having two high-end motors, it has a nice range of 753 km (468 miles) per charge, CLTC-rated. This means that the single-motor Model 3+ may get well over 800 kilometers (500 miles).

As for the price, the local media speculate that it could start from 270,000 CNY (~37,600 USD).
