As you may have heard, Tesla decided to stop making right-hand-drive EVs for the United Kingdom not long ago. As a means of saying ‘sorry’, the company elected to present every Tesla buyer in the UK with a free telescopic stick called The Reacher. If that doesn’t sound exciting, you are on to something.
Tesla is no longer producing its Model S and Model X with the steering wheel on the right-hand side for the markets where such cars are considered standard. Upon hearing the news, many customers who had placed orders for such cars canceled them. The company responded by offering various bonuses in return for keeping the order.
However, it wasn’t until they took delivery of their cars that some owners learned about The Reacher. Understandably, some were infuriated with getting such a cheap gift.
A grabber stick can be used to access those infrastructure objects that the driver can usually reach with their hand – ticket machines at parking lots, automated fast food outlets and so on. Sitting on the left side of the car and reaching through the right-hand window with a stick with a clamp attached – did you picture your electric mobility like that in your dreams, by any chance?
