Novelties
The European branch of Toyota has revealed the second generation of the C-HR, its compact crossover SUV designed exclusively for the Old World markets. You can already place a reservation, but the end price remains to be announced.
On the outside, the car looks much like Toyota’s other recent releases, including the bZ4X, the Prius and the Crown Sport. The interior has been revised and houses two 12.3-inch displays in the top trim level (the infotainment display shrinks to 8 inches of diagonal size in the base trim).
For the engine, you may choose between two mild-hybrid options and a range-topping plug-in hybrid. There is a 1.8-liter engine with 140 PS (138 hp / 103 kW) at the output end, a 2.0-liter alternative with 197 PS (194 hp /145 kW) at its disposal and a 2.0-liter PHEV variant rated at 226 PS (223 hp / 166 kW). Going from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in the PHEV takes 7.4 seconds and you can cover up to 66 km (41 miles) on electricity alone.
All-wheel drive is available as a premium feature for the 2.0L version. The hybrid C-HR can even automatically switch to all-electric drive mode when its GPS sensor registers a zero-emission zone.
At first, there will be only two trim levels to choose from. GR Sport Premiere will offer sporty accents all around, 20-inch wheels and a JBL audio system. High Premiere will make do with some exclusive exterior paint options and perforated leather upholstery (also with exclusive colors to choose from). A heads-up display is included as standard in both trims.
