Rare Toyota Crown coupe goes under the hammer

A fourth-generation Toyota Crown coupe made for the Japanese domestic market in 1970 and exported to Australia shortly afterwards has just been sold on Collecting Cars.

The exotic Crown has a white exterior and a black interior. It has spent its entire life in Australia and has only 93,143 kilometers (57,876 miles) on the odometer to show for it. That’s less than 1,700 km (barely more than 1,000 miles) per year. The owner – who has driven it for the past 10 years – claims the mileage is genuine, but there are no documents confirming it.

Powering this rare Toyota Crown is an MS70-series 2.0-liter inline-six engine rated at 115 PS (113 hp / 86 kW). A four-speed manual transmission sends the momentum to the rear axle.

Back in 2020, the car underwent a complete restoration that saw it resprayed and fitted with 15-inch Evolution alloy wheels wrapped in Radial Champiro VP1 tires. The latest maintenance was in May, and the winning bidder got a spare wheel with their purchase, as well as some OEM spare parts and tools.
