Check out an old Supra reborn as a racecar for the road

TOM’s Racing has brought as many as six tuning projects to the TAS-2024, out of which five were based on relatively recent cars. Nonetheless, it was a Toyota A80 Supra restomod that stole the spotlight – not least thanks to its badass-looking TRD 3000GT body kit.

The original 3000GT racecar came out in a production run of 35 units in the distant year 1994. The Supra seen here received a body kit inspired by it, including an all-new front end including bespoke bumper and grille, side sill extensions and a tall rear wing. Large air vents covered with fine mesh appeared in the hood and the front quarter-panels.

You can still easily tell it’s a restomod and not an original TRD 3000GT by the color combo. Toyota never produced a racecar in this shade of green with golden forged wheels.

TOM’s Racing announced at the show that it would soon start restomodding other Toyota classics and was looking for clients. Examples of the cars the tuner wants to work with starting this year include MR2, Soarer, Celica, and Levin Trueno.
